EAL

At Queensway Infant Academy and Nursery , we are proud to provide a safe, stimulating and inclusive learning environment where every member of our community is valued and respected. We work with students, parents, community and staff to promote a solid partnership and build a strong foundation for lifelong learning by nurturing, guiding & challenging all of our students to achieve their full potential.

We celebrate each country and culture of all our children, including those who are EAL. In defining EAL we have adopted the following definition: ‘An EAL pupil is a pupil whose first language is not English. This encompasses pupils who are fully bilingual and all those at different stages of learning English.’

We love to recognise the rich diversity of language, culture and religion in our school and we have various activities across the school year, which promote and enable our pupils to share their culture in school. Every term, we will be celebrating one of our children's countries and learning different facts. We will learn some of the countries' language and the geographical location.

England day - 22nd October 2021

We looked at the country England and dressed in red and white to celebrate the English flag. We learned lots about the country and had lots of fun while we did!
