At Queensway Infant Academy and Nursery, we aim to actively promote British Values to ensure our children leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. Children are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and understanding that while different people may hold different views about what is 'right' and 'wrong', all people living in England are subject to its law. We are committed to ensuring that our children grow up to understand moral climate permeates through the whole school with our 'School Values'. We aim to teach British Values in a fun, creative and engaging way that supports children's social, moral, spiritual and cultural development (SMSC), and British Values are woven into assemblies, Life Lessons and other whole school themes.
British Values is embedded in many subjects and events in school. It is clearly mapped out in the cultural Curriculum map, and opportunities to visit the British Values are exploited by teachers in subjects which lend itself to it.
School council is run by a member of staff and it visits the key principles of British Values throughout the academic year.
Queensway's Values are practised consistently and across the whole school and are supported by the Queensway Behaviour Policy.
Through our Life Lessons (PSHE and RSE) and RE all aspects of British Values are taught, discussed and revisited throughout a child's time at Queensway.
Children will leave Queensway with a great sense of British Values; of democracy; the rule of law; individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance for those of different faiths and beliefs. Queensway children will know and lead by example showing the importance of respect, and will leave school prepared for life in modern Britain.
We provide a safe and inspiring school where everyone can thrive as individuals achieve dreams and build futures by learning together.
We Value Respect, Kindness and Fairness
