Birthday Bubbles

Children celebrate lockdown birthday

The children and Staff at Queensway Infant Academy and Nursery in Thetford ended their Spring term with class bubble birthday parties.

Pupils would normally celebrate their birthdays by having a birthday lunch at school with all their friends. Unfortunately, due to the current situation and the closing of schools most pupils missed this opportunity.

Parents of the school are always very supportive and it was suggested by one parent (a member of our “Friends of the School”) the idea to have whole class birthday parties. This involved every child in the class having a small cupcake birthday cake provided by the school kitchen with a candle, a small gift to take home and a goody bag. Party games were played, whilst maintaining social distancing. All the gifts and goody bags were put together and delivered to the school by one of our Parents and we would like to say a huge thank you to her for all her hard work.

Sainsbury’s in Thetford were very kind and supported this idea by donating a Cadbury’s cream egg for every child. We would like to also send our thanks to them.

The school followed the Government Guidelines by keeping the parties strictly to class bubbles and they were a great success, it was lovely to see the children smile and have fun together after such challenging times.
